Text de prezentare a lucrării:

Having the plot located in a typical contemporary suburban Romanian city, characterised by a less carefully designed exterior space that is a direct result of the urban planning, we chose a concept that stakes on the presence of exterior spaces protected by the simple volume of the house. These spaces complete the interior spaces, widening the space dedicated to the family’s activities, offering open spaces, but in the same time visually protected and intimating. On a way, these become the important spaces of the project, the ones that give it character. The volume is simple, resulting in an interior spatiality  that is fit for a proper functionality that on outstanding compositional effects. The layout of the spaces and the internal movement was designed so that they offer short distances. The visual relationships and the openness of the central space was another major component of the concept. At the ground level, the first exterior space is the one that organizes the access in the house. It is designed as a small subtraction on the main façade, protecting and accentuating   the main entrance.  The internal circulation from the entrance to the living room is made along a stone-veneer wall that en globes the fireplace. The path is oriented toward the semi public spaces of the house- the living room and the kitchen, generously opened to the backyard. The window kitchen is widened, placed above the kitchen counters, the dining room and the living room are oriented to the terrace, through a generous window. This space is protected through the gliding of the first floor’s volume. The first floor contains the bedrooms, two of which benefit of an access to the third terrace. At the other end of the space, the reading room / office that benefits of an opened space, placed near the stair that leads to the ground floor.  This is a family’s common space that can organize all sorts of activities. Through the volume and the layout, we hoped for a relationship between the interior and exterior spaces, the intermediary covered terraces playing the role of mediators in this proposal.
