The project consist of a renovation (and partial transformation) of a small house from the 90's, located in a large garden. The owner, wanted to change and rethink the interior spatial organization of his house in order to convert one part of his home into a stylish vacation rental. Therefore, the existing building, composed of three large rooms and one hallway, was divided into two parts. Only one part was taken into consideration for the new interior design project: the hallway and the room next to it, being converted into a generous studio apartment of 35 m2 with the best garden views of the property. The hallway area was transformed into a bright and functional kitchen, including a breakfast area/work space and dining area, while a natural wooden wall divides it from the bathroom. The room next to the kitchen became the unit’s main living and sleeping area. The remaining part remains the owners current home, reduced to only two rooms with a new entrance from the garden, just perfect for his current lifestyle. Featuring a generous window overlooking the lush garden outside, the interior is characterized by a minimalist identity with a Scandinavian touch. Each element was carefully planned, thereby the duration for its completion extended to four months. The furniture was designed by the architects and then manufactured only in local carpentry shops or locally built on the property by the owner himself. The main attraction is a large raised platform that can convert from a seating area into a sleeping area with three beds, hosting up to 4 people, or it can even be used as a stage, when the mattresses are stored under the platform. Another important element is the long 5 metter interior wooden bench overlooking the garden. Pine wood was used to finish the bed, drawers and bathroom shelves, as well as the bench underneath the large window. Therefore, in its first year, the “Fresh Garden Studio” was successful, hosting and sharing stories with more than 250 guests from more than 30 countries of the world.
