Text de prezentare a lucrării:
"Hidden nest" is an experimental project that has worked for three days as an access inside the Banat Village Museum, for the 10th edition of the Plai Festival . The challenges that we incorporated this project were reflected in the design process (identifying optimal shape) and the execution subject to the limited time to materialize, framing a fixed budget and the low and fluctuating number of the build up team.
In the planning stage we have reported consistently to the requirements of the design theme launched by the client - the gateway should mark the entry into the festival, directing the flow of the participants to the two focus areas ranked in importance, to integrate withexisting buildings immediately adjacent (the built enviroment of the museum, construction and local materials present) and, in terms of architectural appearance, to instill the idea of nature with forms and materials. Thus, the object arose after negotiation between architectural context and constraints, budget and time: how to create a functional object which integrate naturally into the existing context?
The digital modeling tools used in this case consists of modeling program Rhinoceros with the Grasshopper plugin and the Kangaroo component – thus allowing us to have a work flow with interactive simulation for form finding and optimizing using physics simulations on surfaces and “relaxation” of the organic form. Parametric modeling has proven to be effective design technique in this case because of the flexibility it gives to the process of determining the optimal shape, offering a playful discovery of the many iterations that occur along the way.
Regarding execution, our role expanded into building the actual structure as we actively participated in the whole process of organizing and site construction site, construction material processing and assembly of parts.
